Pray Always

There's nothing like a sweet little girl to remind me to pray always!

Clarissa Jane is growing into a wonderful little girl and this past Friday Stephen had an interview for a CRNA program. After Stephen left for his long day of interviewing I spent the day at home with Clarissa. Nearly every 10 - 15 minutes she would fold her arms and I would ask her if she wanted to pray for Daddy. She would say "Yes" and we would say a prayer. Thankfully the interviewing went well. But the desire to pray has continued. She still walks around the house and folds her arms regularly and wants to pray. I'm so grateful for the little reminder she is.

I love the Bible Dictionary definition of prayer: "As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are His children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part (Matt. 7:7–11). Many of the so-called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship. Prayer is the act by which the will of the Father and the will of the child are brought into correspondence with each other. The object of prayer is not to change the will of God but to secure for ourselves and for others blessings that God is already willing to grant but that are made conditional on our asking for them. Blessings require some work or effort on our part before we can obtain them. Prayer is a form of work and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings."

Saturday night, I took Clarissa with me to a wedding reception. She is such a social girl and getting more and more comfortable with other people. My friend wanted to hold her and while she didn't really want to go, when I handed her over, she was very well behaved. When the dancing started, she was ready to boogie. She wiggled her arms, wiggled her legs, did her "up and down" dance, and shook her booty. I wasn't shocked at the dancing until she got on her hands and feet on the floor and started shaking her booty. She's quite the character and sure keeps me on my toes. I'm grateful for the fun little surprizes I get each day being her mother. I'm even more grateful to be able to stay home with her and to not have to work right now. I love my growing little family so much!

Just some cute pictures of Miss Clarissa Jane:

She really doesn't like to keep her hair how Mommy does it; she prefers to do it herself.

Clarissa loves her new kitchen set and is so cute playing pretend.

For FHE a few weeks ago, I let Clarissa choose the treat. She picked out blue frosted sugar cookies and she enjoyed eating them. I think blue is her favorite color, just like her Aunt Amanda.

Milestones

I couldn't be a prouder Momma after watching my baby girl yesterday and today! I can't believe how fast babies grow and how much every little thing they do captures my heart.  I've been watching little Miss wander around the house, holding onto every piece of furniture for months. She's really gotten her route down; she knows exactly which chair needs to be in place for her to get around and she's getting to be a fast crawler, but yesterday when Daddy got up for work, we showed him her new milestone and she set a new one. Not only did she spend a significant amount of time standing on her own - she took her first steps yesterday!

Trying to take a video of Clarissa Jane standing up is enough of a challenge, but when Daddy is at work, it's even harder, but we got this. :)

Being a Mommy is such a blessing! Counting my blessings one by one today!
